If you have never been to Colorado in the autumn, you should know it is a land of brash colors. Having just made a "leaf peeping" trip just the day before I painted this, it was evident that everyone was striving to catch the rare aspens that show orange or red in their leaves. So, I thought, why not just spotlight such a tree in a lush mountain location. Far towards the sun we can see a pass also full of aspens in their glory. The fact is, Colorado DOES look like this at various moments in the autumn.
