Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Even in the daytime these imposing structures are massive as they sit in the hills surrounded by mountains like Pike's Peak and the range to the southwest called Sangre De Cristos. As I was looking for a subject to work with it occurred to me that these massive gold mining structures were somewhat other worldly. I planned away to portray that.
