Afternoon thunderstorms are common in the desert during the summer months. In the case of this painting, a storm has come and gone as the sun begins to set. The various limestone/sandstone hills are warm and inviting and the cool parts of the painting look mysterious or just cooler if you need a place to rest from the heat and the rain. The painting is done in a combination of photo/digital paint/ in a style I coined in 1993 as a Paintograph.
